I'm really liking where you are going with this Arif.
    Keep it up.

As far as conveying a sense of urban orphan there are some refinements you might push in the current drawing but the pose is really telling the tale. Without more context (or a pose to suggest a particular emotion) its reading as the child happily walking somewhere.

Currently he has a satisfied (not a care in the world) look. The clothes are unspoiled, crisp and untattered and there seems to be a spring in his step. Its as if someone just gave him something to eat and a new coat and hat as a present.

The mouse's face echos that feeling of satisfaction.

Thanks Jeremy......i think, this is a static drawing..tried to capture a felling of an orphan urban who has only a little mouse....didno`t get it...when i draw with blue pencil..the drawing was so emotional...but when,i touched up for final line...i have lost some felling i think...anybody has this problem??.....
Yeah, this happens to me as well. I think it happens to everyone to some degree. Don't worry, keep practicing and maybe just try to hold the pencil a little more relaxed when you put on the detailed linework.

Thanks for your comments on my work. You're right with both suggestions. The bear is missing a beat in the spot you mentioned and I'll add it in my next revision.

Keep going with your work. You're improving everyday. Feel free to try a drawings from this thread: http://donbluthanimation.com/forum/s...=9981#post9981.

i had been watching `Animal Planet Wild Russia - Siberia`..suddenly i saw a fat bird....tried to capture her first...,,then, suddenly a bird character appeared ...i know..this is not a unique stuff....but, i realized that why Don says always to get inspired from nature...as there are plenty of elements out there....we should get from that...

i just remember her very fat body shape and long beak.....i messed up first 2 drawings....then..the 3rd one(below) came up.....based on her shape...actually....

    Very nice Arif,
Love the new iteration of the orphan and mouse.
...and the bird... if you are drawing that from watching TV... Bravo! Nice one.

    Keep it up!

The desire to draw is contagious.

    Arif,
I am fast becoming your number one fan (and not just because you say kind things to me).

I am really enjoying seeing the progress in your work and in your characterization.

There is always the chance I'll post one opinion too many so please feel free to suggest I move on. I learn more from others than I could ever learn by myself.

Here are my thoughts on your latest (for what they are worth).
This is a very good drawing on its own but I find myself asking "What could make it even better" (Note: Of course I do this with my own drawings and often don't achieve that mark).

In this case, I would suggest that twinning/mirroring in almost all of its variations is only good to a certain degree if at all. In this case the initial thought might have been to have both the boy and the mouse share the same facial expession. This might be good to convey empathy between the two as real people do in mirroring one another in real life. I would however, suggest being careful as it is likely you could achieve something more.

For instance, what if while the boy is gazing downward the mouse casts a sideward glance and sees the boys sadness. We would then have an opportunity to empathize with the boy THROUGH the eyes of the mouse.

As it stands right now there is some direction through the image missing. Should the initial attention of the viewer fall onto the boy? The mouse?

By having either one or the other looking and empathizing with the other if the audience looks at the secondary character in the scene they will be drawn toward the other.

This (I believe) is where really getting into the characters personalities pays off. The mouse and the boy may be almost mirror images of each other but they have to have differences as well. If the boy has a goal... perhaps to find food and shelter or a place to call home... the mouse might be more concerned with this friend than with finding some degree of success on his own.

I'm tired and rambling... so I'll stop.
You've got some fascinating characters that I want to see more of.

Thank you Rodney for your nice comments...i can see some points now....and , yes, i want to my mouse as mirror of the boy....mouse actually will be funny but when he sees the boy..he try always to share boy`s felling into him...as he is really his good freind.....but, i understood your point...next time i will try keep on my mind..
and, it is really difficult to create scene with tension or situation with multiple characters...there is always a chance to out focus.....which i did most of the cases.....every time, i thought, i will do next time...and again..i made another mistake.......hahahhahahhahhaah
and i am so glad that i have got one FAN......amazing.....
    here are some attempts....

    Hey Arif,

I'm a little late on this comment, but I wanted to let you know your mouse riding the pencil drawing is great. I know it may seem like your mouse a little off in the way he's sitting, but I think we need to look at what you've accomplished in this drawing.

You've really captured a feeling of emotion in this picture, which we all know isn't an easy thing to do. I've seen artists who draw amazingly detailed cartoons only to have the drawing fall flat with an emotionless look on the head of their characters.

Oh, yeah. And I love the face on the pencil! I'm looking forward to seeing more of you progress.
Ok I'll quit talking now.
