Art Show & Sale - Need Art Pieces
Buttonwood Art Space is pleased to announce a Call for Artists to participate in a unique juried art show and sale benefiting the Thank You Walt Disney, Inc. (TYWD) not‐for‐profit organization. The show ?Animation & Imagination? is open to original one‐of‐a‐kind works in graphite, colored pencil, pen & ink, animation shorts, anime, and all other media. Walt Disney?s influence on modern animation is far‐reaching. He started his small studio in Kansas City by advertising that he would teach animation. Not only does The Walt Disney Company trace its origins to this building in Kansas City, Missouri, but among the other Kansas City boys who Walt brought to Hollywood were the young men who were the founding animators at Warner Brothers, the founding animators of the MGM animation studio and the animators who taught Hannah and Barbara how to animate as well as one of the animators who founded the DePatie‐Freleng studio. Together, virtually the entire Hollywood animation industry traces its roots to the Laugh‐O‐gram Studio of Walt Disney in Kansas City, Missouri!! Walt?s influence on millions of artists over the decades cannot be measured, but this show is an opportunity to express how Disney has influenced or inspired your work as an artist.
The show will run from June 1st to July 27, 2012. Deadline or application is April 21, 2012. Apply through the www.ButtonwoodArtSpace.com website by registering as an artist and uploading your profile, bio and digital images of
your artwork as posts or email Kathy@ButtonwoodArtSpace.com. All artworks must be for sale. A commission of 50% will benefit the TYWD organization rather than the gallery. We are accepting 100% donations of artwork if you prefer to participate as an artist donor. Works are being donated by Bret Iwan, Tony Anselmo, Darryl Woods, Scott Beaderstadt, Todd Smith, Dona Rosa, Damont Jordan, and more.
Sounds like a great opportunity for artists who are inspired by animation.
