Hello, I've been starting to make a compilation of classic special effects techniques of older hand drawn films, and how these methods were done--i.e. the FX work on Fantasia, simple short subject FX like double exposed shadows and lighting, getting a water reflection by flipping a cel and using a distortion glass, etc. etc.

Btw, how would you do a lighting scene like say, Grumpy shutting the door to the cottage before he sits on the barrel? Or Gabby from Max Fleischer's Gulliver's Travels getting a lantern that actually looks like it has light coming from it?

Any help will be appreciated. I remember Don himself saying the old techniques werent written down usually and he had to find them out himself. This will be really beneficial to my animation education!
