Wednesday January 19th, 2012 Don Bluth Animation Seminar
The seminar starts Wednesday at 4pm Arizona time.
We start this thread early to give members a chance to upload any video or images they want critiqued on the weekly video seminar. Throughout the week, the Web Master will try to incorporate as many images and video clips as possible into the live seminar.
Image and Video Rules:
1. The best format for video clips is quicktime .MOV files, preferably MPEG-4 (H.264). Upload videos here.
2. Please clearly label all of your drawings in your images, example "a, b, c, d... etc" so that Don can easily refer to them. Please limit your images and /or videos to to five (5) for each seminar.
3. Please clearly label all animation pencil tests with large drawing numbers so that Don can easily refer to them.
4. Please do no post images or videos from the current workshop as it is not fair for the other members. However you may post images or videos from workshops that have already ended.
The deadline for clips and images to be critiqued in the live seminar is 24hrs prior to the seminar date and time. Please limit the number of images and/or video clips for the seminar to 5 total
Please keep your questions concise so we have time to answer everyone. Only questions pertaining to animation technique will be addressed. Don't be afraid to ask animation technique questions!
Thanks

Hello Don
I tried doing as you suggested, and wrote down the emotion I wanted the drawing to represent. i find it hard to do, and I don't think the drawings came out too well.

I've also stumbled upon a story I started writing a few years back. but unfortunately I never got to finish it. and I have rediscovered some old characters. To some I have done quite a few changes, but others remained much the same.

the character on the left is named Maria and the one on the right is Lumiere. this is a drawing showing them getting prepared for the masquerade ball they will be attending latter on in the story. It seems Maria has tightened the corset a bit too much.

this is one of the male characters in the story. I will not give his name because Dave might have some problems pronouncing it. He is a thief, so we will call him Thief for now. the objects he steels are given to an antique shop in the city where he lives.
Because of him being a thief, he has gained quite a reputation, and is considered one of the city's most valuable symbols. Of course no one knows his true identity, Except his friend Mark. Here he is writing a letter to a very special person.

Here are some sketches of the same characters from my story. In no 1 Lumiere is struggling to draw the flowers in front of her. In no2A Thief has accidentally hit the paint bucket, splashing some paint on his friends motorcycle. In no 2B, his friend Mark, is completely shocked to see his motorcycle covered in pink paint. Especially seeing as he just finished washing it a few minutes ago.
