Mytoons closed??

So I went over to mytoons to publish my latest toon, and noticed they shut down??? Very sad, i think even Don uploaded some stuff there.

Anyone know whats up?

Yep, they laid off most of the staff without warning in late January.

This week they abruptly closed down MyToons without a word of warning to any of their users just like they did to the Bauhaus Software/Mirage user community a couple of years ago after repeatedly promising everyone that everything was fine and the future was rosy. One day the whole Bauhaus Software/Mirage forum and the Bauhaus website just disappeared -- POOF! -- with no warning (but with a link to what they claimed was "the future of animation 2.0" : MyToons (http://www.mytoons.com).

Odd thing is I kept getting e-mails from them to join. Non too recent but I finally did sign up two weeks ago....lol. Glad I did not spend too much time fixing up my page.

However very sad for the employees. :(

i fixed up my page and everything!! who knows maybe someone will buy the domain and open it up and make it better :D

what was mytoons.com? was it like newgrounds with out the games side or was it more like icebox was when it was actually active. I've never heard of it until now :C.

it was advertised in alot of animation magazines, it was where people could upload videos, flash, artwork, games etc

so basically another online artist portal
