is this a really potent medium/ book of imparting animation information the world has ever known? In other words is anyone familiar with these sketchbooks? I have heard they can lull you with pretty pictures--nut thats all i know about them --printed as if Ollie Johnston and others sketched right on the page --
Here is the link to the Walt Disney Sketchbook series
On EBAY

Here are some better pricing for some of the sketchbooks. Though some are still pretty high.
Snow White And The Seven Dwarves (http://www.alibris.com/search/books/qwork/9023256/used/Walt%20Disneys%20Sketch-Book%20of%20Snow%20White)
Bambi (http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/0786863021?ie=UTF8&condition=all)
Lady And The Tramp (http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/1557093466?ie=UTF8&condition=all)
Peter Pan

Sleeping Beauty (http://product.half.ebay.com/_W0QQprZ302073QQcpidZ430016)
Little Mermaid (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/stores/offering/list/-/155709344X/all)
I would love to get this book if I had the money. Albert Hurter designed characters at Disney back in the golden age. Ralph Bakshi highly recommends this one.

Thanks for the reply --but if you'll notice they are not (Pan and Beauty) available anymore which is why they are pricey ( sealed) and pricey even unsealed.
No worries I would not dish out that kind of quid for original drawing either (its like the artistic equivelant of spending money for "guichi bag" --they sell like hotcakes but useless as nutrition --besides i can find roughs on the internet on some phosphorodots blog "out there" -- (Although i would like to see what the content is about -peter pan roughs and sleeping beauty roughs from Milt Kahl and others) --
-None of us is safe all snuggled down in front of the internet "tube" (substitute for the tele) I believe all we are really seeing is shadow play -- They've lulled me --with not showing me anything! I guess i ought to be frightened...
best---thanks

I have the Bambi one. It is pretty cool. It is the least expensive of all... so not sure if that means the others are way better. I don't know if I can say it was worth the cost.
Honestly I would recommend the new Disney Archive series. Both Story (http://www.amazon.com/Walt-Disney-Animation-Studios-Archive/dp/1423107233/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1267652378&sr=8-2) and Animation (http://www.amazon.com/Animation-Walt-Disney-Studios-Archive/dp/1423117166/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1267652378&sr=8-1) are great.
I have a mini review of the story one here. (http://zanekohler.squarespace.com/all-animationblog/2009/2/17/disneys-the-archive-series-story-book.html)
I never got around to typing up an Animation book review. I do think I favor it a bit more to the story, but both are great to have.

I just got finished with a local library copy of the Bambi one. I LOVED it! Really great reference if you want to learn to draw the characters. I'd like my own copy now....

Sad thing about these, is that the prices will go up, unless Disney decides to re-release them. Am i right?
They are all around 100 pages each. Not bad.

I would say yes. Most of them the prices have gone up since I first discovered them. But for some reason the Bambi stayed the same since I got mine a some years back. The only thing I can think of is they made more of that one?
