A couple of days ago, I uploaded a new video into Ragbag but never advertised that fact here in the forum. I guess I wanted to find out if anyone is paying attention to the content we're constantly uploading to the site.
At this time, I haven't seen any chatter about the video, Beauty and the Beast, so I guess nobody has seen it yet. Check it out.

I watched it. Can we see the beginning where Don draws her lightly? It starts off when he's going over the drawing darker.

I just finished watching this one. I wonder what the film would have looked like had Don done it instead of Disney. I like the way Don draws the hands so effortlessly. There's a nice design to them. Thanks for the announcement. Is there anyway to be automatically notified when a video is posted? Or is there a way to sort the tutorial videos / rag bag videos by date?

I wanted to say that I really like it that you are posting the high res image along side the video because its very hard to see the detail of the drawing in some cases. So that helps a lot!

I definitey missed this when I last skimmed through the topics of the videos.

This image... wow... it demonstrates Don's high level of skill.
The layout/composition.
The silhouetting. (and the negative space).
All the varied detail and variety of line to drive our eyes through the image.

...and one great character!

I really like Don's design for Beauty, I think it's a much elegant and attractive characterization than Disney's Belle. Funny, I wonder what was the logic behind the conception of so many "princesses" during the so called Disney renaissance (1989-2002), in which the more the female character appeared to be sexually liberated, the more her design was leaning toward being unattractive if not down right unpleasant....
here's an example of what I am talking about:

Lovely stuff....

I wonder if Don will ever disclose more material for his version of Beauty and the Beast, storyboards?...more concept designs?..... perhaps I'm being too bold with my requests...LOL.
P.S.: I love that little lizard character in the color version of the concept design Don shows in the video... that feather in its hat makes him a pretty funny looking character.

I just watched the Rag Bag Beauty and the Beast. I thought that Don's version was very femine and had a peaceful and whismical feel to her. I love the color shot he shows at the end. The color palette used really adds to Beauty's softness. I also like how the Afghan hound was used as a companion for Beauty. I had a friend that had an Afghan hound. They are very regale and beautiful looking dogs.

Erica:)

Again I loved this clip.
