Hi there!
I'm always a bit nervous about posting on forums, so please be kind if I'm doing things wrong! I thought I'd introduce myself here, so I can post some of my drawings right away. Many talented friends are already on here so I just had to join BUT!... I don't really think I have ever seen any of Don Bluth's movies! I'll try to save up some money so I can buy them on DVD, because being on here without having seen the movies feels like a horrible crime.

I'm Henrieke, 19 years old, from the Netherlands. I guess some of you already know me. I'm ever so slightly obsessed with cartoons, especially those from the 30s/40s. I grew up with Disney (Donald Duck) comics and old cartoon shorts on VHS, and many European comics. Since there isn't really a suitable school here, I've been trying to be my own teacher the past years. I do some freelance work now and hope to make my job out of art in the near future.

Here are some of my drawings. Most of these are characters that I do not own! Some of these are creations by other forum members, even!

One or two years ago I got my first job, doing a whole bunch of education panels for a zoo. These are some of the illustrations.

I did a few drawings for a friend of his character with Bent-tail the coyote (from Disney's 'the legend of Coyote Rock'), here's one of them:

I love Donald Duck! I tried to mimic Carl Bark's old drawing style here.

You stuff is awesome. I especially love the bison/yak and reindeer on the first collection of images. Did you do the lines in flash?

@ Cartuneman and WillW: Thanks a lot! And heh, I think I forgot to mention I'm a girl ;)

@ Lizzle and Nanook123: Yay!! Now I have yet another way to stalk you!

@ Hana: Thanks a lot! Some of those zoo drawings were done with a brush, but most of them were done with a marker because my deadline came earlier than planned, and I had to rush them ;) I prefer to use traditional inks. That animal is a muskox, btw.

Wow! I thought they didn't really have that sort of flash 'style' to them but the lines were so gorgeous and crisp. I feel inspired to go ink something now.

Those first two pages are among the most professional work I've seen on this board. You have an exceptional talent and you can be proud of your achievements so far.

Thank you all for your kind words!
Here's what I've mostly been working on recently: Badges of people's original characters. It's a lot of fun to do other people's characters, especially to draw them in a completely different style then they're normally drawn in. I did over a thirty of these the past two weeks, and there are a lot more coming I hope.

These are done with Chinese ink and markers, a very good way to practise inking!

My apologies for not posting very often. I hope that once I have some more time, I'll be abled to join into the other discussions here as well.

Here's a drawing that I did two days ago for Donald's 75th birthday:

http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/1333/donaldbirthdaykleinmd.png

I wish I had a way to make my drawings more compact without making them too crowded. They all seem very flat to me, without any depth, everything is next to eachother instead of making proper use of the space. If anyone has any tips/critiques, they're more than welcome!

Sorry I have to disagree. Your drawings are solid and 3 dimensional and your previous cleanups added to feeling of weight and mass. This clean up has a bit more of a bent wire frame look but it's not that bad. The composition might be a bit stronger if you separate the tail from the cake and shift Donald's who body back slightly to clear the silhouette of the cake as well as bending Donald's screen right leg so that it clears his foot. Overall I'd say it's a really impressive piece! If you'd like to ask Don about this question specifically, we have a techniques section here (http://www.donbluthanimation.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35&page=6) and you're more than welcome to post your image and question.
