Summer Movies/Blockbusters

A small list;

Wolverine Origins (In theaters now)
Star Trek (May 8)
Angels & Demons (May 15)
Terminator Salvation (May 21)
Up (May 29)
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (June 24)
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (July 15)
G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (August 7)

On saturday i saw Wolverine Origins, and i must say it wasn't bad at all. Wolverine is my favorite character out of the Xmen. Even though they changed the story a bit from the comic, i still enjoyed it. I found it funny that Wolverine/Logan said 'coo-coo-ca-choo' at one point in the movie.

Thats from a Beatles song, 'I am the Walrus'.

So which movies are you going to see?

I need to see Wolverine still *pout* The fact he says coo-coo-ca-choo somehow makes me want to see it even more

I'll probably see the Harry Potter movie as well as I dunno. I'm not a huge fan but at the same time I enjoy them. Maybe it's the magic.

I *still* haven't seen Slumdog Millionaire.

I agree with Hana completely! xD

Oh and Transformers : Revenge of the Fallen too. I had a blast watching the first one, and I'm a fan of Michael Bay ..so yeah. :)

Wolverine was awesome! I loved it, but I'm a fan of that character anyways and the movie did not disappoint. :D I would like to see Transformers and I been wanting to see Star Trek badly, I've heard it's really good. I also will go see UP and Terminator, I hope they are as good as they look. :) One on you didn't list was Ice Age 3! I would like to see it, the trailers look funny so far. I don't know about the others, I'll see about them.

I have my money ready for Up...I really like the idea behind the story....plus there is a character in the movie that really cracks me up everytime I watch the trailer... looks and acts exactly like my golden retreiver!....:)

I actually was really happy about all the hype, but maybe that's because I'm a fan of Danny Boyle. And he FINALLY got the recognition he deserved :3

Here's my short list of movies to watch this summer:

Up
Angels & Demons
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

And maybe Terminator Salvation. I didn't really think the first Transformers movie was all that great, so I'll be skipping the sequel. Sequels don't typically do better than the first film anyway.

What I really looking forward to is Where the Wild Things Are in October. The trailer for that looks fantastic!

Have not seen Wolverine yet. I did see Star Trek. I thought it was very well done for a reboot.
Since I stated Animation Mentor classes I don't get out to see movies all that often anymore :( . But I would rather be animating anyway:D!

I really do like the Terminator series and have been impressed with the trailers. However sometimes the planets are not aligned...At the moment I don't have that "can't wait" feeling. With that said I am locked in to go see it on Saturday. So I am hoping to watch T2 to build some momentum...:D

I saw a couple. I thought they were ok. I seem to only find time to watch a few shows a at at a time at best. So I never really made time for it.

Just watched Up today in 3d and overall I found it very cute. The montage during the first few minutes is beautiful and it's one of my favorite pieces of Pixar film making. What did everyone else think?

I agree. Really powerful beginning. I really liked it. I think Incredibles is still my favorite... but this one is up there at the top. Have to see it a few times to see where it settles on my pixar list. Theater was packed...good sign for a hit.

It's weird, but I've never wanted to see a Pixar film a second time. There's somethin about them I guess...especially Cars. But maybe Up will be different for me.

Yeah financially and critically (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/up/) it's already a hit since it made over 20 million (http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=up.htm) on Friday. It won't click for everyone because the children sitting behind me were bored during the quiet parts and crying during the action. For me, the montage is exactly what I love about animation, simple, direct, beautifully staged allowing the artists and animators to carry the scenes in a sincere way. Great stuff! I don't want to spoil it for anyone else so I'll leave it at that :)

Yeah saw that... came in just under Wall-e for opening night.

Have to add that intro is some of the finest animation acting out there. I wanted to put the expressions in slow motion.

Up was wonderful. Not my number one Pixar film (I am TERRIBLY biased towards WALL-E not only because it has ROBOTS but also because I met some wonderful friends through it), but it's definitely up there. It took a lot of guts to do that montage at the beginning. So many people think animation always equals kids movies (or at the very least, my showing did, there was tons of kids) and a lot of the things that went on were things that would go straight over a kid's head, but hit an older person's heart- hard.

And while it did get more and more action, cute and lovable characters and gags that would keep a kid entertained, there still remained a subtle undercurrent of the same themes shown at the beginning. I wish I could say more, but I'd hate to ruin the best parts of the movie for others.

Can't wait for 9, either. People are just busting down the doors of what western animation SHOULD be and I love it.
