Monkey See Monkey Do

From my own experience, I can tell you that just looking over the shoulder of one of the master animators as he sketched out a scene while listening to his thought process, gave me volumes more knowledge than all the art books I've read on the subject of animation. I realized that animating was not just making appealing drawings or nice designs, animation was really about entertainment.

Don Animates: Disc Two

Let's pretend a mama rabbit grabs the fox by the tail and pulls him away from her baby. The fox frantically scrambles about trying to free himself from her clutches. You may have seen a cartoon character scramble about in a panic many times before but how do you plan this specific timing on the animation that will make it believable. The answer lies in shooting a pose test every so often to be sure your action is not mushy or slow.Additionally, there will be some parts of your action that will need to be animated on 1's. Always remember to start your scene by visualizing the scramble action before you put pencil to paper.

Learn to Storyboard: Disc One

The process of finding the best graphic way to tell the story is fraught with dangers. It is easy to settle for a mere illustration of the script, thereby shortcutting the power of the motion picture. The scriptwriter has used words to create an emotional response. Okay. You, the storyboard person must in a similar way, while maintaining the spirit of the story, use pictures to create a greater emotional response. This tutorial explores those possibilities.
